Women's Day forms part of South Africa's Women's Month which provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the generations of women whose struggles laid the foundations for the progress made in empowering women and achieving gender equality to date.
National Women's Day in South Africa draws attention to many of the important social and professional issues that women in South Africa still face - such as domestic violence, discrimination and harassment in the workplace, equal pay and more.
We as Mbula tapped into the greatness of this commemorative month and had a Women Month Chat with our Deaf delegates and female employees under the theme. Women taking up space in I.T. Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is a difficult position to be in and that is exactly how it feels like being a woman in I.T. but still, women thrive and change the world of business. The Women's Month Chat took place on the 14th of August 2020, where we had gifts and interactive activities prepared for the women at Mbula.
With all that is happening around Gender based violence (GBV) in our country it's only fitting that we celebrate the women in our organization and appreciate them for all that they do at Mbula as well as encourage them to continue taking up space in their respected fields.
